About Us
Marshall Parnell's first martial arts instruction came from his father, a Special Forces Vietnam Veteran. Master Parnell's martial arts training has spanned over two decades, eight different styles, and six years as a United States Marine. In 2000, he traveled to South Korea and where he tested for his fourth degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do, and obtained the title of Sabumnim, or "Master Instructor."
In 2001 he returned to South Korea to study with the Haidong Gumdo world masters and obtained the title of Sabumnim in that style (sword fighting) as well. In 2002, he became the first American to place in the HaiDong Gumdo World Championships, taking silver. At the HaiDong Gumdo World Championships in 2006, he received the "Excellent Master" award, one of only two masters in attendance to receive that prestigious award.
He now teaches in Murray, Utah and is the World Haidong Gumdo Federation Chief Master for the United States.
